In July this year we were luckily enough to meet the talented Tom Gillanders at New Blood’s annual University Design Show. Tom has spent the last 3 months working as a Junior Design Intern at GC HQ and has now been offered a full time role in London. Before Tom made the move we asked him to sum up his time at GC and this is what he had to say:

Now, this is a story all about how

My life got flipped-turned upside down

And I’d like to take a minute just sit right there

And I’ll tell you how I became an intern at a company called GC.

From a business card at the D&AD New Blood to a couple of polite emails exchanged I was soon starting my first day as a Junior Design Intern at Green Chameleon.

Fresh from University and pretty handy at Illustrator I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous starting in a top Bristol agency. During my first morning, I was thrown into a huge branding project for Fitco, a leading sportswear supplier and I soon learnt studio life was a lot faster than lectures. Each day at Green Chameleon has brought something different, from designing small flyers to rounding off character limbs for an online game design (don’t ask). Branding Fitco dominated and it was nice to see it out to the end.

During my time at Green Chameleon I’ve been fully immersed in the design process and you can see everyones passion for it daily. I have learnt more than I can imagine and am so thankful that my first start in the design world was at such a talented company. I served three, fun and enjoyable months as a Design Intern at GC, and I’m sure I could of carried on but all things must come to an end and in this case the big smoke was calling!

Stay Classy GC
